Andrea is a highly experienced senior executive, Board member and competition practitioner. She has 25 years experience of assessing cutting edge competition issues in both the private and public sector. In her most recent role as a member of the CMA Board and part of the Senior Executive Team, she built on her legal expertise and moved into a strategic and leadership role.
Andrea was at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for 15 years and was a partner for 8 of those. As a partner, she advised clients on UK and EU matters, both on merger control and on conduct issues. She joined the CMA in 2015, and was appointed Executive Director, Markets and Mergers in 2018.
As Executive Director, she was a member of the CMA Board and was responsible for delivery of the CMA’s markets and mergers work, including acting as a decision maker on some of the most complex Phase 1 mergers. She led a multi-disciplinary team of over 130 colleagues in delivering this work and was also responsible for ensuring the CMA’s preparedness for taking on additional and more complex merger reviews following Brexit. As part of the role, she worked closely with other government departments in developing policy and new legislation.
